Live Collaboration Workflow FAQ#
Q - If two people edit the same property on the same prim, whose edit is correct?
A - The last user to edit the property is the edit that is distributed by Nucleus to other users.
Q - How do I see other users in a session?
A - We provide a number mechanisms to help know who you are working with. The join dialogs display the users in a session. Notifications in the viewport let you know who is joining and leaving a Live Session. User icons, name labels, and selection colors all help to identify users in Omiverse Applications.
Q - Can I undo another users action in Live Collaboration?
A - No, Undo only undoes the actions you did during the collaboration.
Q - Why do I experience a hitch every now and then while collaborating live with others?
A - Some operations have some processing that is required and can cause a user to experience a hitch. For example adding a new asset or new material can cause all the collaborators to experience a hitch.
Q - I don’t see user name labels from Live Session’s that are coming from USD Sub-Layers or Prims?
A - Use presence is only currently supported at the root level of the current Live Session.
Q - I ended my Live Session and chose Merge to New File, but when I reopened my USD stage, the changes were missing?
A - When merging data at the end of the session, the Merge to New File option only saves the changes to this file, and then places it in the base files USD layer stack. It is a user choice if they want to keep this as a part of the main layer composition by saving the main file.
Q - How many participants can be in a Live Collaboration?
A - We are currently supporting up to 25 concurrent users in a Live Collaboration with Omniverse applications such as USD Composer or USD Presenter. Connectors however are meant to be contributors to a Live Collaboration, so we would not support this high user count directly in a connector.
Q - Can I sync the animation timeline, play controls, during live collaboration?
A - Currently time is not supported in Live collaboration. We are currently looking into this support.
Q - Do runtime systems such as Physics simulation, OmniGraph, or others replicate the simulation through Live Collaboration?
A - No, the result of these simulations often can be seen by other users, however the actual simulation is not live.
Q - Can I collaborate with user in VR?
A - Live collaboration is supported in XR, but some features for user awareness such as name labels are not currently supported in XR.
